NaBloPoMo - Day 1 - The Prompt

Every year I've thought about doing NaNoWriMo aka National Novel Writing Month where the challenge is to write a novel in 30 days.... yeah, given my schedule, not going to happen.  But, I think I might be able to manage the Writer in Motion challenge to write a short story in a month.  Today we received the prompt and are challenged to write a short story based on the prompt.

Seeing the picture above, I have a ton of ideas rolling around in my head. For today, I am just going to sit and ponder my choices... romance, adventure, action...? All good thoughts... maybe something historical, or sci-fi..? Hmm... I think the biggest challenge will be learning to only make one space after a period. Who thought of this? I am old school and learned to type on a typewriter... with real RIBBON..! No corrections here. There was a lot of crossing out or using... gasp... white-out! Remember that stuff?

Any way, once a week I'll post a link to my story if you so choose to read it... if not, I'll be making a daily blog post about this and that and whatever is going on in my life at the moment... enjoy...!  Oh, and if I have too many spaces after a period... get over it!

NaBloPoMo 2018 - Day 1

National Blog Posting Month 2018

How long has it been since I've written...?
Looking back, it's been since the end of July 2016.
Yet, people still look at my blog;
479 during the last month.
Maybe, 478 since I came on the blog yesterday just to see,
just to look around,
just to remember when I used to write
3 different blogs...

Wow, where did all that time go..?
But, it's exactly about that:
time.
Where is all my time going?
Why am I not taking the time to do something I really enjoy...
like writing,
or painting,
or just sitting and enjoying...?

Maybe this will be a month of renewal
for both my blog and myself...

November Notes, Day 5

"The Joy of Painting"

I have tonight off of work because I was supposed to go to a painting class.
It was cancelled.
I am very bummed.

I've been doing classes at the local gallery for over a year now.
They only hold them in the winter time, so I always look forward to them.

I think it's releasing that inner artist within me...
Or maybe it's just relaxing painting with a glass of wine...

I enjoyed the classes so much, I bought some art supplies of my own...

And, I have tried to use them from time to time...
Like my quilting fabrics,
Like my beads,
Like my scrapbooking paper...
I think I really just enjoy the creative process,
or I have a little ADD...

Today I was reminded of another inspiration for my creativity...
Bob Ross and the "Joy of Painting."
Did you ever watch this on PBS?

I remember watching this as a kid...
the "Magic Brush"
and "happy little clouds..."

He made it all seem so easy...
and to this day I remember when he
would say the paint colors...
alizarin crimson
and titanium white...

I came across this video and
remembered that joy again...

What's your creative outlet...?
