Birthday Shuffle Year V - Day Four - Music

Given my love of music,
it's only appropriate that Madonna's Music
finally comes out early in this year's shuffle.

Released in 2000, it's got a great beat,
and the lyrics really say what it's all about:

"Hey, Mr. DJ, put a record on, I wanna dance with my baby.
And when the music starts, I never want to stop..."

Reminds me of being young and
dancing till I thought my feet were going to fall off...

Day 22 - Saturday Night Dance Party

What would you tell your 20-something year old self

if you could go back in time..?

I'd tell me to stay in shape so I could continue

dancing like I used to then.

A shot and a beer since I was generally the DD,

and I could dance all night long.

Go to bed at 3, and be up at 8 to be to work at 

9 the following morning.

And, I LOVED to dance.

Still do.. in fact, my best friend commented

that dancing at my wedding was the funnest

time she'd had in a long time... 

because we love to dance...

I can't think of a time I didn't like Madonna.

From "Lucky Star" and "Borderline"

to "Music" and "Jump" I have enjoyed her music.

 

She was out there, controversial,

ever-changing, but solidly musical.

 

"Ray of Light" was released in 1998.

About the time I was going into medical school.

It kept me energized.  And, I hope it does the same for you...

Christmas Countdown - #3 - Santa Baby

Ok, this is my one naughty song of the bunch....
and my number 3 most favorite Christmas song ever.
Props to Eartha Kitt, but I always liked Madonna's version just a little better...


My favorite line, of course,

myPod Shuffle #19 - Jump

Out of my 792 songs on my iPod, 20 are by Madonna.  I would have more, but it would mean copying every one of the dozen CD's I have in my collection.  So I picked my favorites.  Of course, now with my new iPhone, I could put every song in the collection on it, and still have room left over for many many more.

I first heard this song on the TV series "Ugly Betty."  In case you didn't watch it, the show was based on a telenovela that was very popular in Mexico which was based on another telenovela from Columbia.  It follows a basic "ugly duckling turns to swan" storyline.  The Mexican telenovela lasted almost a year and featured one of my favorite actors as a love interest... can you guess who?

Anyway, "Jump" was such an awesome song, with awesome lyrics, and a kickin' musical beat, and since it came from Madonna, I just knew I had to have it in my collection.  Which is funny because I had the song on the "Confessions on a Dance Floor" CD and had never really listened to it before that "Ugly Betty" episode.  Funny how putting a song in context just makes it that much more interesting.
