and the dogs have been a big part of it.

We all enjoyed a recent escape to San Francisco

Random Musings...

I've been a little remiss about posting on my blog,

but after the pressures of writing daily last month,

it seemed like I needed a little bit of a break...

Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Let's see what's been going on since we last wrote....

At the end of the month, my bestest and oldest friend

drove up from SoCal for a visit...

We've been friends since first grade;

Almost 40 years!

Then I made the 5 1/2 hour trek to Sacramento

to work for the next week.

It's always interesting driving alone in a car for that long.

The random thoughts that come to your mind.

I've written about it before,

since I've been traveling down there about

once a month for the last 7 months.

Only about one more month

to go on my contract there.

It's been a great experience

since I get to see things there that

I really don't see in the small rural area where I work.

Also, I can go shopping!

You have to understand, 

it's a big deal to go to an area

with stores other than Costco and Target.

Then it was the 5 1/2 hour drive back home...

I love crossing that final bridge and knowing that I am almost home.

Since then, it's been back to the daily grind at work, 

and doing stuff around the house to get it

looking like a real home and less like

a crash pad for critters and people alike...

Occasionally, though, 

we've had a relaxing evening at home

surrounded by good friends...

MyPod Birthday Month #31 - Veronica

And so we come to the end of my yearly iPod Shuffle....

Hope you've enjoyed the selection this year

almost as much as I've enjoyed challenging myself 

to post on a daily basis.

It really is hard to come up with a post.

Basing it on a song makes the writing process a lot easier.

For now, I'll go back to writing semi-regularly...

at least until November when the NaBloPoMo starts...!

Or maybe I'll be adventurous this year and try to do

the NaNoWriMo.... hmm...

MyPod Birthday Month #30 - That's What Friends Are For

1985

I started college not really knowing anyone.

I didn't make any friends until around October of that year

while working on a Halloween event for the dorm.

During that time, I became friends with the 

two girls who lived in the dorm room right next door

that surprisingly I hadn't met until that event.

We became the best of friends

and were pretty much inseparable throughout

the rest of my college years.

This was our song,

and we would always hug and put our heads together

while singing out loud

to this song...

That's all I have to say about that...

MyPod Birthday Month #28 - Margaritaville

I can't think of a time I didn't know this song.

In college, it was the song that got everyone in the audience chanting,

"salt, salt, salt...!"

after that line, "Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt..."

Years later, it was still the penultimate drinking song,

played at every bar from Ensenada to Puerto Vallarta.

Just one of those songs that makes you happy...

and thirsty...!
