#272 - U is for Ubiquitous

I've seen a lot of amazing and wonderful sights and sites during my travels...

And, today, while thinking of my "U" word for the Challenge,
I thought about ubiquitous which means
"existing or being everywhere at the same time."
Which made me think of God.

Now, I am not a "wear my God on my sleeve" kind of person.
I have faith.  I pray.  And, I thank God every time I arrive
safely to another travel destination.

I also thank God for allowing me the time and resources
to be able to travel and see so much of His creation.

And, I do feel His presence as everywhere when I stand
at the top of a rise or on the edge of the beach or simply
when I experience the joy of my DH or dogs as we travel
and explore together...

My simple prayer for travel is always:
Keep us, guide us, hold us,
bring us safely home.

And, it doesn't matter whether Home is back in Ferndale
or up in Heaven, I just pray for safe passage with no fear.

Cause I already feel as though I've seen a little bit
of Heaven on Earth...

As long as there are rivers and mountains and beaches to enjoy...

You'll find me there...

#272 - T is for Talladega!

I'd have laughed in your face
if I had ever been told that I would one day be
traveling to Alabama for a NASCAR race.

Yet, here I was... joining DH whose cousin works
at the hallowed Talladega...

We went to a fund raiser on Friday which
got the weekend started...

But it was the pit passes that made the weekend...

Front row as the drivers entered for their pre-race meeting...

And DH wanted plenty of photos of his favorite:
Jeff Gordon

I like the tire changes, and I was bummed
our passes wouldn't allow us up close and personal
as the pit crews did their thing...

But still, we got to see the cars,
and the trailers...

And the track...

Start of the race, "boogety, boogety, boogety...!"
yeah, we saw him too...

We had time for a short walk through town...

And at a LOT of Southern Food...
Catfish and hush puppies...

Shake and bake...!

Yeah, I got into the spirit a little...

If you ain't first, you're last...!

#274 - S is for Seattle

One of the benefits of having to do CME
(continuing medical education) is having a
wide array of conferences to choose from.
A lot in places where I've never been.
Like Seattle.

Not only do you get to continue to learn
and grow in your profession, but you get to
see cool and fascinating things...

Like the Chihuly Garden and Glass
where I took some amazing photos of
even more amazing artwork:

We had a reception one night in the atrium
just below the Space Needle... wow...

I also enjoyed going to the EMP
(Enjoy Music Project) Museum.

Not only did they have some interesting exhibits:

DH, I think there's something behind you...!

But, I also was able to see the swords from the
"Princess Bride" movie.  One of my favorites!

One day, I took a walk to the Fish Market and watched
as the mongers threw fish over people's heads.

We also caught a ride on the Bremerton Ferry,
one just to say we rode a ferry,
and two because they allowed dogs.

I don't know if they enjoyed the experience or not,
but they sure attracted a crowd and were
surprisingly well-behaved despite the noise.

And, three, you can't beat the picture opportunities:

We had our final reception at the
Museum of Flight where we got
to spend an entire evening enjoying the museum.

Have I mentioned I love planes?

We thoroughly enjoyed Seattle,
and the 12 hour Road Trip to and from the conference!
