November Notes, Day 5

"The Joy of Painting"

I have tonight off of work because I was supposed to go to a painting class.
It was cancelled.
I am very bummed.

I've been doing classes at the local gallery for over a year now.
They only hold them in the winter time, so I always look forward to them.

I think it's releasing that inner artist within me...
Or maybe it's just relaxing painting with a glass of wine...

I enjoyed the classes so much, I bought some art supplies of my own...

And, I have tried to use them from time to time...
Like my quilting fabrics,
Like my beads,
Like my scrapbooking paper...
I think I really just enjoy the creative process,
or I have a little ADD...

Today I was reminded of another inspiration for my creativity...
Bob Ross and the "Joy of Painting."
Did you ever watch this on PBS?

I remember watching this as a kid...
the "Magic Brush"
and "happy little clouds..."

He made it all seem so easy...
and to this day I remember when he
would say the paint colors...
alizarin crimson
and titanium white...

I came across this video and
remembered that joy again...

What's your creative outlet...?

#276 - N is for New Orleans

When I write about New Orleans, I could go on for several days and blog posts about the food.  Seriously, have you been there and had the food?  I think every dish starts off with "add one or two sticks of butter" and then builds from there.

But, anyway.  Here are a few of my favorite photos from NOLA:

The electric rail system was a great way to get around and explore...

Jackson Square...

There are a lot of interesting details to be found at the cemeteries...

Popp Bandstand at the City Park

Lot of musicians with every kind of music imaginable...

And, of course, there's Bourbon Street...

Ok, so I couldn't have a post about New Orleans
without a few food pictures...

Soft-shelled crab from the Palace Cafe

Crawfish at the Red Fish Grill

A Po Boy from the Acme Oyster House

Have to have breakfast at Brennan's

This small place is famous, and their food is wonderful!

This was the fig cheese torte appetizer at Eat New Orleans... OMG

And this was the Ossobuco from the same place,
scrumptious! Covered with mashed sweet potatoes...

Sante a la belle vie!

The Mid 40's are in the Books

For some reason I never got around to writing about traveling to National Parks numbers 44, 45 and now 46...! Back at the end of June...
