#593 - C is for Cats

I write about my dogs so often, that most people don't know I have cats...
Three of them...
Winston, Sofie and Lacey.

This month, Winston and Sofie turn 10 years old.
They're only a week apart in age, but I raised them both together.

I love this cat so much, it's like I can't remember a time when she wasn't with me.
She almost died, and spent a few days in the kitty ICU just after I got her.
She never grew too big, and is my petite chatte...

There was a warning sign on his cage at the rescue that said,
"Extremely Playful."
I didn't notice it until I had already signed the paperwork...
Haven't regretted my decision one bit.

The cats have been with me since the start of my residency,
in my first apartment in Chicago right after medical school.

They have been my comfort and joy on those days when I didn't think
I could possibly make it back to the hospital for another day.
Patiently waiting for me to come home and play with them.

They've made every single move from Chicago to Boston,
Boston to Minneapolis,
Minneapolis to Mahtomedi,
Mahtomedi to Buffalo,
and Buffalo to rental house in California,
And now finally Home where the redwoods meet the Pacific...

Cheers to another 10 years...!

oh how i love cats. these 2 are such beauties. and they sound like they have been a God-send in your many trials. i know mine have been. that is a lot of moving around. but not knowing your whole story, why from the east coast to the west coast? and if you were going back home to the west coast, why did you move to the east coast? there are such vast differences in the 2 coasts.

Adorable post! I don't know where I'd be without my cat. Yours are precious. I love the photo of Winston under the blanket.

Enjoy the Challenge!

Regina, I grew up in SoCal and moved to the Midwest where I got accepted to medical school. I then did an internship in Chicago. Was accepted to a specialized program in Boston. Did a second year surgical residency in Minnesota. I took a year off and moved again while I decided to change to emergency medicine. I was accepted to a program in Buffalo. When I graduated, my husband and I decided to move back to California, and we both knew we wanted small town, so chose NorCal as the place to settle down. Many of the moving stories are in my blog... thank you for visiting and posting!!
